Mazatapec is a cultivated variety of Psilocybe cubensis associated by name with the Mazatec region of Oaxaca, Mexico. The region has an important place in the modern history of psilocybin mushrooms, particularly through Mazatec ceremonial mushroom traditions and the work of María Sabina during the mid-20th century.
 
Today, Mazatapec is commonly recognized among cultivated P. cubensis varieties for its slender stems, golden to caramel-coloured caps, and classic cubensis appearance.
